About the Global Labour University

Meeting the challenge of globalisation

University of the Witwatersrand (WITS), Johannesburg, South Africa

The Global Labour University (GLU) is a network of trade unions, universities, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung and the ILO (International Labour Organisation) to deliver high-level qualification programmes. It offers Masters Courses in five different countries on trade unions, sustainable development, social justice, international labour standards, multinational companies, economic policies and global institutions and promotes research cooperation on global labour issues.
The GLU is a new approach to increase the intellectual and strategic capacity of workers’ organisations and to establish stronger working relationships between trade unions, the ILO, and the scientific community. The Global Labour University (GLU) network is offering Masters Programmes in

  • 'Labour Policies and Globalisation' (University of Kassel & Berlin School of Economics and Law / Germany)
  • 'Labour and Development, Economic Policy, Globalisation and Labour'(University of the Witwatersrand / South Africa)

  • 'Globalisation and Labour' (Tata Institute of Social Sciences / India, Mumbai)
  • 'Development and Labour Studies' (Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) / India, New Delhi)
