Welcome to the Online Academy of the Global Labour University

The Online Academy of the Global Labour University is a virtual campus debating ideas for social justice and a fairer globalisation. Launched in 2014, the Online Academy has become a pioneer in online education through an approach, which combines theoretical knowledge and practical skills for cooperation and action. Our Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are developed in close collaboration between universities, the ILO, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, and the labour movement.

Our online courses combined have recorded over 21,000 participants from across the world. They come mainly from trade unions, but also from labour-support organisations, universities and research institutions, regional and international organisations, and even from the governments, private companies and corporations.

The development of the online courses has benefitted from the financial support of various organisations such as the ILO, FES, DGB-BW, GiZ and ICDD.

Dr. Edlira Xhafa is the Executive Director of the Online Academy. Dr. Frank Hoffer and Prof. Dr Mark Anner are Non-executive Directors.
